Ledger Live has teamed up with THORChain to introduce native cross-chain swaps within its platform. Announced on October 22, the partnership allows Ledger users to seamlessly swap assets across different blockchain ecosystems, all within the security of the Ledger Live app. This marks a first for the hardware wallet giant, as it integrates a decentralized liquidity protocol to enable cross-chain swaps without relying on wrapped tokens.

THORChain, known for its decentralized liquidity model, offers users the ability to swap assets such as Bitcoin and Ether directly, removing the complexities and risks of intermediary tokens. For Ledger Live users, this new functionality is easily accessible through the “discover” page of the app, where they can opt into cross-chain swaps directly from their cold wallet device.

Enhanced Accessibility in DeFi

This new feature is seen as a big leap in enhancing accessibility for users engaging in decentralized finance. With the THORChain partnership, users can enjoy a streamlined experience when swapping assets across blockchain networks, expanding the utility of Ledger Live beyond its current trading and staking capabilities.

On the horizon, there is also speculation about THORChain’s integration with Binance’s Web3 wallet. Though not yet officially confirmed, THORChain founder John-Paul Thorbjornsen, known as “JP THOR,” hinted that such developments could be the beginning of a broader expansion for the decentralized liquidity protocol.

THORChain’s Growing Ecosystem

This Ledger partnership follows closely on the heels of a major integration between THORChain and the Rujira Alliance. In September, Kujira, Fusion, Unstake, and Wink merged to form this new ecosystem, aimed at developing a powerful application layer on THORChain’s network. According to Thorbjornsen, this app layer is poised to become a DeFi powerhouse that could one day rival the likes of Solana in terms of transaction volume and utility.

As Ledger Live continues to evolve, this new feature signals the platform’s commitment to expanding DeFi opportunities for its users. With cross-chain swaps now natively supported, Ledger Live users will have greater flexibility and control over their assets, marking another step forward in the decentralization of finance.
