Lucky Queen wins prizes 500 times in a year worth US$70K reveals

A woman in Japan claimed she won approximately 500 raffles in a year, amassing prizes valued at nearly US$70,000, which earned her the nickname “Lucky Queen”.

Recently, the woman, Kanae Hirayama, shared her secrets to raffle success with the public. She was featured on a Japanese television programme, I Will Make You Happy: The Queen Teaches You Winning Techniques.

During the show, Hirayama revealed that more than half of her household goods were obtained through raffle wins.

In Japan, it is common for businesses to conduct online raffles, using giveaways as an effective marketing strategy. Hirayama mentioned that she has won an impressive array of items, including pots, bento boxes, mugs, children’s toys, yoga balls, and even snacks – all without spending a cent.

She has also been fortunate in winning several high-ticket items, such as an oven valued at 70,000 yen (US$490) and a 100,000-yen water purifier. Her most significant win to date was a car worth 4 million yen (US$28,000), making her the sole prizewinner across Japan at that time.

On the show, Hirayama shared several key strategies to enhance the likelihood of winning.

First, she emphasised the importance of registering for the raffle as close to the deadline as possible. If an individual enters their name just before the cut-off, it stands a better chance of catching an employee’s attention.

She explained that she rises at 6am each day to prepare breakfast for her family before diving into researching various raffles, meticulously jotting down the latest updates in her notebook.

On September 10, a man in China won a staggering 24 million yuan (US$3.4 million) after purchasing lottery tickets for seven years, using his family’s birth dates as his lucky numbers.
