Vitalik Buterin acknowledged the need to reduce the minimum deposit to 16 or 24 ETH. The solution he proposed would increase the equipment requirements for solo stakers.

In mid-September, Buterin addressed the importance of individual staking as a factor in network security and decentralization during his speech at the Ethereum Singapore 2024 conference.

The expert drew attention to the role of solo validators in preventing hypothetical 51% attacks. Earlier, he stated the need to prepare the network for possible similar threats.

In July, the team lead for Ethereum execution layer developers, Peter Szilágyi, expressed concerns about the development of the blockchain towards centralization. In this vein, he directly mentioned PeerDAS, which, among other changes, will gradually increase the size of binary data arrays (BLOB) to 32 MB.

According to Szilágyi, this will hit home stakers and will be their "murder in front of everyone." Node operators will need a reliable Internet channel with a speed of at least 2.5 Gbps, the developer emphasized.

Buterin did not agree with his statements, noting that measures are being developed to minimize the negative consequences of the updates. Before that, in May, the Ethereum co-founder supported Szilágyi, recognizing the main threats to the decentralization of the MEV network, liquid staking and the cost of running a full node.

BLOBs, which appeared as a result of the April Dencun hard fork, allowed to reduce fees in the L2 ecosystem several times, especially based on the Rollups technology.

However, this led to a drop in blockchain revenue and inflation of ETH. The community has already expressed the idea of increasing the size of fees for transactions with objects. Buterin noted the increased availability of rollups and advocated for increasing the number of BLOBs in blocks.
