A malicious attack on a number of the Fantom Foundation's cryptocurrency wallets has occurred.
According to cybersecurity firm Certik, attackers siphoned cash from Fantom Foundation wallets on Ethereum and Fantom. The Foundation suffered a $550,000 loss, and a Fantom employee's wallet was also emptied. The Foundation stated on X that more than 99% of its funds are safe.
The assault mechanism is being actively studied, according to the statement.
According to Certik, the attackers combined the stolen cash into one address, which now holds approximately $7 million.
The $FTM FTM token has dropped in value following the exploit.
