The popular Minecraft game-based movie with the same name “The Minecraft Movie” trailer was released today on September 4th. The movie is scheduled to release on April 4th 2025, starring Jason Momoa and Jack Black. However, the movie receives mixed reactions.
The trailer’s voiceover says, “Anything you can dream about here, you can make.” The story will follow an eccentric group of adventurers as they explore the “square” world of Minecraft.

Jason Momoa is playing The Garbage Man’ Garrison, Sebastian Hansen will play Henry, Emma Myers will play Natalie and Danielle Brooks will be Dawn.
The movie will also have the legends of comedy Jennifer Coolidge, Jemaine Clement, and Kate Mckinnon. Naponlean Dynamit and Jared Hess are in the director’s chair.
The group of these four misfits will get sucked into a portal which takes them to the cubic universe. To get out of this world they’ll have to protect it with the evil creatures, Piglin and Zombies. They are required to master the craft of this world to survive.
On this journey, they will need the help of the expert crafter. This is where the popular Minecraft game character Steve makes a dramatic entry, in a simple blue t-shirt. in the trailer.
Everything except the adventurers and Minecraft’s popular in-game character Steve, is square.
Minecraft the Movie first look receives mixed reactions As the trailer post says “Be there or be square”. One can assume from fans’ reactions that they are a bit “squarish” about it.

Fans as excited as they are, didn’t like a few things about this trailer. Especially, the seeing Steve completely opposite to what the in-game character looks like.
One fan in an X post replies “So Jack Black is playing himself instead of playing Steve got it”. Some criticised the costume designs while others simply could not digest the actual human versions in the film. However, one reply says “looks terrible we’ll be watching no matter what”.
