Midjourney, the famous AI image generation service, has finally opened up its website to all users after having been available only on Discord. According to a recent statement made by the co-founder and CEO David Holz on Discord, new users can now generate up to 25 images for free and explore what the platform is capable of without spending any money straight away.

This is in response to an increasing rivalry between Midjourney and other emerging platforms such as Elon Musk’s xAI or even Ideogram 2 which are just coming into operation. Through this means, Midjourney hopes that it will cater to both occasional users as well as professional artists by boosting accessibility through free trials.

Midjourney users explore new web-based image creation

New users can sign up with either a Google account or a Discord account. This type of registration is expected to make it easier for people who want access to the platform when they do not have an account. After registering, users can create images by typing in textual prompts into the top-most text box provided on that page where four pictures are produced based on the given description of these texts.

Moreover, users may change different settings such as image aspect ratio or stylization level in a pop-over menu. The slider bars are supplied by the system to make each generated image stick to some style more or less and randomize them wider or narrower among themselves. On the website’s left-hand side, there are several sections available for switching between, the “Organize” tab where all previously created pictures can be viewed and the “Chat” tab which allows discussing image-making with other users.

For those who used Midjourney via Discord before, the company suggests logging in with their Discord accounts so as not to lose access to their image history. Midjourney also allows merging one’s Discord account(s) with Google under the “account” tab. This way of uniting accounts guarantees that a person will always be able to log in using either of these types at any time they like.
