Trump’s Campaign Raises $21M at Bitcoin 2024 Conference

Former US President Donald Trump was the keynote speaker at The Bitcoin Conference on July 27, where his campaign reportedly raised $21 million.

The significant funds were largely collected during the conference following his address, which strongly endorsed Bitcoin and cryptocurrency.

Trump pledged that if re-elected, the US would not sell its Bitcoin reserves.

The event was partly organized by Senator Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn, and attended by 100 individuals, making it Trump's second-largest fundraiser.

Additionally, Trump's campaign has raised $4 million in cryptocurrency donations since it began accepting them in May.

Federal Election Commission filings indicate that Trump's campaign has amassed a total of $221 million, with over $10 million from individual contributions and nearly $206 million from transfers from other authorized committees.

The campaign currently has over $128 million in cash on hand.

During the conference, Senator Cynthia Lummis announced the "BITCOIN Act of 2024," proposing a strategic Bitcoin reserve for the US.

The legislation outlines a plan for the federal government to purchase 200,000 BTC annually over five years, totaling 1 million BTC.

The act aims to strengthen the US dollar's position in the global financial system and includes provisions for states to participate in the Bitcoin reserve, subject to specific security requirements.

Lummis emphasized that establishing a strategic Bitcoin reserve would enhance the country's financial leadership, paralleling existing reserves in gold and petroleum.

Trump also highlighted the goal of positioning the US as the leading global power in Bitcoin.
