Macro/TradFi

  • Defunct Bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox is set to start distributing approximately US$9B worth of Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash this July. 

  • VanEck has become the first firm to file for a Solana ETF in the U.S., stating that it is a commodity. 

  • Bitcoin miner, Hut 8, has received a US$150M investment from Coatue Management to advance their AI infrastructure. 

  • Bitcoin miner CleanSpark has agreed to buy mining peer GRIID Infrastructure in a US$155M deal.

 Crypto

L1/L2:

  • Solana has launched blinks (shorthand for blockchain links), which allows users to share links that trigger on-chain transactions on any website or app. For example, blinks have already been integrated into X, where users can buy NFTs, vote on DAO proposals, and trade tokens, without leaving their timeline. 

  • Ethereum L2, Blast, conducted its hotly anticipated airdrop and distributed 17B $BLAST tokens to its early adopters. The token is currently trading at a US$2.3B FDV. 

  • Matter Labs, the team behind ZKsync, have introduced a new ‘Elastic Chain’ architecture in their updated roadmap. The Elastic Chain will be composed of multiple, interoperable chains in the ZKsync ecosystem, somewhat similar to Polygon’s AggLayer. 

  • MegaLabs, the developers of a new chain called MegaETH have raised US$20M in a seed round, including participation from Vitalik Buterin. 

DeFi:

  • Solana LST provider, Sanctum, has launched Sanctum Profiles, to provide users with an identity in the Sanctum universe. 

  • Dexscreener, the crypto data platform, launched a pump.fun competitor called Moonshot. There have already been over 16K memecoins launched on it, with Moonshot having generated ~2K SOL in revenue. 

  • PancakeSwap has launched an AI-powered prediction market on Arbitrum. 

Stablecoins:

  • Tether has stopped minting USDT on EOS and Algorand, stating that they want to “strike a balance between maintainability, usage and community interest”. 

Others:

  • Conduit, a crypto infrastructure company, has closed a US$37M Series A round

  • Ora, an AI tokenization and oracle firm, has closed a US$20M funding round.

  • Crossover Markets, an execution-only crypto trading platform, has raised US$12M in a Series A round.

  • Blockchain data infrastructure company, Covalent, has raised US$5M.

  • Decentralized AI network, Allora, raised US$3M ahead of their mainnet launch. Previously an NFT appraisal platform, they recently pivoted towards AI. 

  • Binance Labs has invested in Infrared Finance, a liquid staking protocol on Berachain.
