According to Foresight News, Summer Mersinger, a commissioner at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), has stated that the implementation of the Financial Innovation and Technology Act of the 21st Century (FIT21) could be a long process. She made this statement at the Consensus conference.

Mersinger suggested that it might take several months or even years of coordination among U.S. regulatory bodies before the rules come into effect. She emphasized that rule-making is a slow process and that the signing of the law by the president is just the first step. Therefore, the formulation of rules may take some time.
