We’re excited to announce a collaboration between IOST, Platinum Egg, EverSystem, and Meta Akita, an official spin-off company of the Akita-Inu Preservation Society. This partnership is set to transform and digitally rejuvenate Akita’s regional development and local communities using cutting-edge technology.
Centered around Meta Akita, our goal is to digitize local communities and foster connections between the young and the elderly, encouraging intergenerational exchanges. We’re committed to preserving the unique cultural significance of the Akita dog while engaging the youth in community-based problem-solving. Our aim is to create a foundation for passing on Akita’s rich culture and values to future generations.
Our first initiative involves blending Akita’s cultural heritage with cutting-edge gaming technology. In “Climbers,” a Web3 battle racing game developed by Platinum Egg, we’re introducing a 3D Akita dog character. This opens up opportunities for Web3 gamers worldwide to learn about Akita dogs.
Since 2018, IOST has been offering free blockchain technology workshops to students at universities in Japan. In December 2023, a workshop took place at Akita International University, co-hosted by Meta Akita, Platinum Egg, and IOST. The focus was on regional revitalization and the theme of Web3, engaging with students.

Web3 Town Vision: A Digital Boost for Regional Ecosystems
The Web3 Town Project aims to revitalize local communities and achieve sustainable development through the integration of new technologies. To support digital residents and prospective migrants, we’ve made it possible for migrants to engage in local issues and projects even before relocating. They can actively contribute to the community by voting and proposing local business initiatives and policies, and building relationships with local residents. Moreover, we’re streamlining the process of matching migrants’ skills and experiences with regional jobs through a talent databank, helping migrants find suitable employment and regions secure skilled personnel. We’re also offering support programs for regional relocation, forming communities of people with similar ages or interests. This not only assists migrants in adapting to new environments but also provides opportunities to build social connections with local residents.
In the Web Town concept, we’re incentivizing migrants through a point economy system, allowing them to use these points for consumption and services within the region. This encourages the circulation of the local economy and enables new migrants to contribute economically to the local community.
