**New Cross-Chain Security System Launched by Ethereum's EigenLayer and LayerZero**

In a recent blog post, LayerZero Labs announced a partnership with Eigen Labs to enhance cross-chain communication security through a new system called "CryptoEconomic Decentralized Verifier Networks" (DVNs). This innovative framework combines technical verification with financial incentives to ensure secure messaging across blockchains.

Key Features:

- **Stake Assets:** Verifiers lock up tokens like ETH, EIGEN, or ZRO as collateral.

- **Verification Process:** Messages are sent and verified across blockchains.

- **Community Veto:** Tokenholders can vote to veto staked assets if discrepancies are found.

- **Penalties:** Malicious behavior results in staked assets being slashed.

Benefits include increased security, financial incentives for honesty, and flexible verification methods. The open-source framework allows other teams to create their own DVNs with customizable security parameters. Currently, 35 entities, including Google Cloud, are participating.

EigenLayer has $10.8 billion in total value locked, although this has decreased by nearly 50% in the past four months, according to DeFiLlama.
