  • The registration aligns with Argentina’s regulatory framework and FATF recommendations.

  • Despite regulatory challenges in Europe, Bybit continues to expand in receptive markets like Argentina.

Bybit’s recent registration by the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of Argentina allows it to offer a wide range of crypto services to Argentinian clients. Through Bybit, the exchange can avail complete cryptocurrency products like Bitcoin and Ethereum’s (ETH) spot and derivatives market.

Moreover, Argentine users will be able to get crypto-backed payment cards for better utility when it comes to holding and spending cryptocurrencies. This development is timely, as Argentina addresses economic challenges and showcases innovative approaches to cryptocurrency regulation.

Aligning with Argentina's Regulatory Framework

This registration is consistent with an open minded regulatory framework adopted by Argentina and its desire to integrate digital assets into its mainstream financial system. In March, Argentina’s National Securities Commission took measures to implement policies recommended by Financial Action Task Force on anti-money laundering and counter terrorism financing thereby contributing to improvement of stability in cryptocurrency space.

Ben Zhou, Co-founder and CEO, expressed his contentment following this registration: “Obtaining VASP-registration in Argentina demonstrates our commitment towards compliance and our aspiration to develop secure and easily accessible digital asset services globally”.

Therefore, this move made by Bybit comes at an opportune moment when the country is grappling with economic difficulties hence adoption of cryptocurrency can be an alternative economic solution for them.

Moreover, the expansion into Argentina contrasts with recent regulatory challenges in Europe. Bybit had to scale back operations in France following new regulatory requirements, restricting services to existing positions and halting further deposits and new account creations.

However, despite the setback in France, Bybit's registration in Argentina reflects its adaptability and commitment to compliance, promising a robust framework for users to engage with digital assets securely and efficiently.
