Scammer returns $9.3 million worth of DAI to victims 10 months after phishing campaign

PANews reported on July 15 that according to Cointelegraph, last September, a phishing scammer stole $24 million from victims in a phishing attack, and now suddenly returned nearly $9.3 million to the victims.

Scam Sniffer first discovered the scammer on July 13 and returned the funds last week in two transactions using the Dai (DAI) stablecoin. Etherscan data shows that the first transfer returned $5.23 million on July 8, while another transfer of $4.04 million was sent on July 13. However, no explanation has been given for these sudden transfers.

Ten months ago, on September 6, 2023, victims fell victim to a $24.2 million phishing scam and lost 9,579 Lido Staked Ether (stETH) and 4,850 Rocket Pool (rETH) tokens.
