Railgun, a crypto privacy protocol, recently thwarted an attempt by Inferno Drainer to launder over $533,000 worth of stolen Ether (ETH). The Ethereum-based privacy protocol's automated Private Proofs of Innocence (Private POI) system detected and blocked the malicious activity, forcing the return of the stolen ETH to Inferno's original wallet. Railgun's Private POI system, launched in January 2023, uses cryptographic assurance to filter out transactions from known undesirable actors. Inferno Drainer, known for stealing over $180 million in crypto from more than 189,000 victims, was left with no option but to withdraw the blocked tokens back to its original address.
