The pseudonymous leader of Shiba Inu, Shytoshi Kusama, made a rare public appearance at the 2024 Infinity Venture Summit in Kyoto, Japan, where he met with a local politician and members of the Shiba Inu community to discuss the potential of Web3 technology in Japan.

Interestingly, Kusama met with Kazuichi Kumagai, a member of the Miyagi Prefectural Assembly in Japan, guarding his anonymity wearing a mask! He had previously revealed his arrival in Japan on Tuesday, stating his intention to engage with leading minds in the country regarding Shiba Inu, its future plans and vision, and the transition from Web2 to Web3, among other topics.

Members of the Shiba Inu community in Japan shared several photographs of Kusama and Kumagai on the social media platform X.

In a commentary on X, Kumagai expressed his delight at meeting the Shiba Inu leader at IVS 2024. He shared his aspiration to use Web3 to revitalize Japan, particularly its rural areas. In his words, as translated:

“I was happy to meet Mr. Shytoshi. I want to invigorate Japan, especially the rural areas, with Web3! I’m not sure if my thoughts were conveyed well in my clumsy English, but I was moved by his willingness to listen attentively.”

Kusama also met with other community members at the conference, engaging in conversation during a meet-and-greet session at Shiba Inu’s dedicated booth. WeCreate3, a Web3 student community in Japan, shared footage of their brief meeting with Kusama, revealing plans to collaborate with Shiba Inu in the future.

Kusama’s public appearance at the IVS conference elicited mixed reactions from crypto enthusiasts. While some praised him for attending the event in person, others criticized his continued efforts to maintain anonymity by wearing a mask.
