Cardano co-founder, Charles Hoskinson, has expressed concern over the increasing trend of AI censorship, where machine learning algorithms are used to filter content deemed objectionable or sensitive. Hoskinson believes this practice is diminishing the utility of AI models, as it promotes certain viewpoints while restricting others.

In a demonstration, Hoskinson asked two leading AI chatbots, OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Anthropic’s Claude, to explain how to build a Farnsworth fusor. While ChatGPT provided a detailed response, it warned of the complexity and potential dangers involved. Claude, however, refused to provide instructions, citing potential safety risks.

Hoskinson argues that such censorship could prevent access to specific knowledge, a decision made by a small group of individuals who cannot be voted out of office. The majority of responses to his post agreed, highlighting the need for open source and decentralized AI models. This sentiment aligns with the ethos of the DeFi and BRC 20 movements, which advocate for decentralization and democratization of resources.
