Nigeria’s Crypto Crackdown....😱😱

To combat financial crimes associated with the digital asset industry, Nigeria has escalated its regulatory scrutiny of major cryptocurrency exchanges, including Binance and Coinbase. 

According to a local media report, the African country has asked its telecommunications companies to restrict access to the websites of these crypto firms after the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) issued guidelines to regulate the activities of digital asset operators.

The Central Bank of Nigeria had a change of stance in December 2023, instructing banks to disregard the previous ban on crypto transactions imposed in February 2021. 

The latest restriction on crypto websites aims to slow down currency speculation activities within the country. Binance clarified that its platform is not intended for currency pricing after users complained about the inability to purchase dollars.

While no specific timeline is provided for the restriction, the NCC’s directive is expected to take effect immediately. Similar measures were implemented when Nigeria blocked access to Twitter in 2021...

FTX Sells Its Solana Holdings At Around $62 Per $SOLANA....😱😱

After receiving court orders to to sell its massive SOL holdings to repay its creditors, Defunct crypto exchange FTX recently sold two-thirds of its Solana holdings for a massive discount,
the news of the court order sparked a wave of concerns from SOL investors, as a total selloff by FTX could tank the price of the cryptocurrency in just a few hours. Interestingly, the bankrupt crypto exchange has now gone ahead to sell a majority of its holdings below market value.

FTX sold around 30 million tokens to key investors, enabling it to round up $1.9 billion in funds. These SOL tokens were sold to prominent industry figures including Galaxy Trading which bought $620 million worth of SOL and Pantera Capital which bought $250 million worth of SOL. 

Considering the number of tokens sold and the amount raised, It is estimated that they were sold at $64 for each SOL. At the time of the transaction, SOL was trading at around $172, meaning they were sold at a 63% discount to the market price and were actually worth $5.16  billion.  

Solana has also seen robust growth in the Decentralized Exchange (DEX) and Decentralized Finance (DeFi) sectors. Particularly, the blockchain saw its DEX trading volume skyrocket by 332% and its market cap increase by 97% last quarter.

At the time of writing, Solana is trading at $177.5, up by 1.22% in the past 24 hours.

BINANCE EXEC. ESCAPES FROM NIGERIAN CUSTODY AMID CHARGES....😱😱

As reported by Bitcoinist, One of the two senior executives from crypto exchange Binance has escaped from the Nigerian authorities as criminal charges were pressed against him. The executive was first detained on February 26 as part of Nigeria’s actions against the exchange.

Nadeem Anjarwalla, one of the two detained Binance executives, escaped from the government’s custody almost a month after his detention. According to the report, the executive fled the country on March 22.

After the detention, Anjarwalla remained in custody at an Abuja guest house with Tigran Gambaryan, who was also detained. On Friday, guards on duty took the now-fugitive to a nearby mosque “for prayer in the spirit of the ongoing Ramadan fast.” However, Anjarwalla escaped and allegedly flew out of Abuja on a Middle East Airline.

The executive, who holds dual British and Kenyan citizenship, had his passport confiscated during the detention,
The investigation has unveiled that the Anjarwalla fled the country with his Kenyan passport. Nonetheless, how he got access to this passport remains a mystery to authorities as he only carried his British travel document when detained in February.

As per the reports, that the guest house where the Binance executives were held was “comfortable” and “allowed many rights.” The phone privileges are now believed to have been exploited by Anjarwalla to plot his escape.

A Binance representative confirmed to CNBC that the exchange is aware of the situation and affirmed that they are collaborating with Nigerian authorities on the matter..

If this is the true intention of the whale investor and they were looking to sell, they would’ve made a total profit of $23.5 million after sending 1.24 trillion SHIB to exchanges.

This is not the only massive trade the whale trader has made in the last few months. Spot On Chain also revealed that this particular trader also made a profit of $44.3 million on his  FLOKI holdings and $5.82 million from His BIGTIME holdings..
