Bitcoin surpassed the $76,000 level for the first time ever last Wednesday after Trump won a second term, and his Republican Party took a majority in the Senate, amid expectations that the new US administration will adopt policies supporting the cryptocurrency sector.
The Federal Reserve also cut interest rates by 25 basis points, continuing its efforts to ease borrowing costs after a nearly four-year monetary tightening cycle, which should boost appetite for riskier assets such as cryptocurrencies.
In a sign of investor optimism about the market’s outlook, U.S. bitcoin exchange-traded funds attracted a record daily net inflow of $1.38 billion on Thursday, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
