According to Foresight News, the NEAR Foundation has announced a collaboration with D3 to launch NEAR Name Tokens. These tokens are designed to provide users with a comprehensive digital identity solution across the Web3 ecosystem. The initiative is set to kick off later this summer, with existing NEAR account holders being granted exclusive early access to their equivalent NEAR Name Tokens.
NEAR has clarified that the name token has an asterisk between the name and extension instead of a period. This is partly because NEAR accounts already use the .NEAR extension, and they want to avoid any confusion among users. Additionally, they aim to prevent any mix-up between these and actual domain names.
