Van Ness cited the Ethereum Foundation's (EF) withdrawal of symbolic support as a key reason for the closure, noting the publication's inability to establish a sustainable business model. He remarked that the EF's current perception of Ethereum Weekly's value has diminished, and there is a general lack of appreciation within the community for contributions from non-developers or researchers. Despite opportunities to continue through fundraising, Van Ness expressed a preference to focus on meaningful new projects, admitting his inability to transform Ethereum Weekly into a successful commercial venture.
