According to PANews, Brazilian Congresswoman Julia Zanatta has expressed concerns about the impact of implementing the digital currency, drex, on citizens' lives. Zanatta emphasized that as the nation advances with the implementation of drex, the use of physical currency might come to an end. In a recent interview, she explained that the use of drex should be voluntary rather than mandatory, as it could potentially become a tool for exerting control over Brazilians. To prevent this, she has planned several contingency measures to help Brazilians maintain their current economic freedoms.

Julia Zanatta has recently introduced a bill to counter an existing proposal that bans the use of cash in Brazil, suggesting reliance solely on electronic transactions and drex. The original bill, introduced in 2020, aims to gradually phase out the printing of cash starting in 2025.
