Launched on the Solana blockchain on October 6, CHILLGUY has gained popularity through platforms like TikTok and Instagram. The character, created by American artist Phillip Banks, depicts a laid-back anthropomorphic dog wearing a gray sweater, blue jeans, and red sneakers, embodying a chill, carefree attitude.

CHILLGUY's popularity has been fueled by endorsements from figures like President Nayib Bukele and Elon Musk, driving its price volatility. Despite its success, the original creator has expressed dissatisfaction with the character being used for meme coins.

This trend reflects a growing sense of financial nihilism among young people, with Binance research highlighting how meme coins resonate with Gen Z’s laid-back and "goblin mode" mindset—a response to societal pressures and economic struggles.
