The Shiba Inu ecosystem is advancing its capabilities by incorporating Zama’s Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) technology.
This move will enhance privacy while maintaining transparency in blockchain transactions, offering users a secure and verifiable experience.
Shibarium’s Encryption Upgrade Sets New Standard for Secure DeFi Transactions
Kaal Dhairya, a key developer within the Shiba Inu ecosystem, announced the partnership with Zama through a recent post on X (formerly Twitter). Zama, an open-source cryptography firm, is working alongside the Shiba Inu team to integrate its FHE technology into the ecosystem.
“My protocol team is working closely with Zama’s incredibly talented team to bring this groundbreaking vision straight to the ShibArmy and Shibarium and more, ensuring we all benefit from next-level privacy and innovation together,” he stated.
Zama’s CEO, Rand Hindi, explained that their FHE-powered virtual machine (fhEVM) allows smart contracts to operate securely on encrypted data without altering existing blockchain protocols.
This breakthrough resolves a key challenge in blockchain technology, where public networks prioritize transparency but lack privacy, while private chains provide privacy but fall short of verifiability.
The fhEVM introduces encrypted transactions, composable features, and programmable privacy. These functionalities ensure validators cannot access sensitive data while smart contracts process encrypted information seamlessly.
Additionally, access controls are fully managed on-chain, and operations are batched to improve performance without disrupting the user or developer experience.
“Our goal is to make everything onchain encrypted end-to-end: from confidential tokens to swaps, governance, identity, AI.. Everything becomes possible, even running countries onchain,” Hindi stated.
The integration of Zama’s FHE technology underscores Shiba Inu’s commitment to innovation, privacy, and security. By adopting these advancements, the ecosystem solidifies its position as a leader in blockchain development.
Meanwhile, this development comes amid the ongoing momentum for the official Layer-2 blockchain of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, Shibarium.
According to data from Shibariumscan, the network has surpassed 620 million transactions and now boasts over 2 million wallets. Notably, the network has seen a surge in user activity on Shibarium over the past few months, with increased engagement across various DeFi protocols.
