Crypto CEO Arrested
NAIROBI (CoinChapter.com) — In a humorous twist on social media, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson joined in on a jest about the Solend founder’s alleged smuggling attempt, which turned out to be a satirical jab at the Solana blockchain’s stability issues. The jest started circulating after a spoof article appeared. It claimed authorities arrested the Solend founder for smuggling 20,000 condoms into Singapore.
Crypto CEO Arrested Becomes Satirical PR Move
Pushing the limits of promotional creativity, DoginHood created a dubious narrative about their CEO’s supposed arrest at Changi Airport, alleging he was carrying contraband intended for a crypto conference. This provocative move aimed to capture the community’s attention but instead ignited a debate over the ethical implications of using misleading information for publicity.

The post featured a blurred WSJ logo and mirrored the publication’s format but lacked proper capitalization and authentic design elements, raising suspicion. DoginHood later commented that its legal team was working to resolve the issue in Singapore. However, there is no record of WSJ publishing anything related to this alleged incident.
In further developments, DoginHood’s assertion about contacting its legal team in Singapore helped propagate the fabricated narrative.
The fake article quickly gained traction on social media, with some users humorously supporting the false claim. One user cited Singaporean laws on condom imports in an attempt to back the story. Despite the comedic response, many criticized the tactic, suggesting it was an attempt by DoginHood to garner attention ahead of the upcoming crypto conference in Singapore.
Earlier this month, NEAR protocol faced similar backlash after falsely claiming a cyberattack to promote an upcoming Hackathon event.
Charles Hoskinson Pokes Fun at Solana
Moreover, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson joined in on the joke. He responded to a satirical X post claiming Solend’s founder had been arrested in Singapore for smuggling condoms. Hoskinson humorously suggested the founder likely wanted to “safely” use Solana’s blockchain. This jab wasn’t subtle, as Solana has faced numerous issues with bugs and network outages, making it a fitting target for his humor.

It seems crypto projects are getting more creative—or desperate—with their marketing efforts. Whether these stunts are landing well with the community is a different story entirely.
