TON-Based DOGS Meme Coin Sees Record-Breaking Launch on TON Network
The newly launched Dogs (DOGS) token on The Open Network (TON) is claiming to have the largest token generation event (TGE) in meme coin history.
Inspired by Telegram co-founder Pavel Durov's iconic dog drawing, the DOGS token has already been claimed by over 17 million users.
According to a Telegram post, the Dogs Mini App has amassed an impressive user base of 53 million, with 42.2 million eligible for the token airdrop. This has led the community to declare it the "largest meme TGE in cryptocurrency history."
The DOGS token now boasts 4.5 million unique wallet holders on TON, surpassing all other tokens on any blockchain in terms of unique holders within just two weeks of its launch. Only Tether (USDT) on TRON and Ethereum networks currently have more holders than DOGS.
However, the TON network experienced two major outages due to the launch of the Dogs project, highlighting the strain that such massive adoption can place on blockchain infrastructure.
Upcoming TON projects Hamster Kombat and Catizen are expected to launch in September, which could potentially be even larger TGE events. The Hamster Kombat game reached 300 million players in August, and its upcoming airdrop has been touted as potentially the "largest in crypto history."
