Elon Musk announced that SpaceX’s Starlink will offer free emergency service access for mobile phones worldwide, even in areas without cellular coverage.
This service, available at no cost to users, aims to ensure that no one is at risk due to an inability to pay for emergency help.
Starlink is currently working with governments for approval, and in collaboration with T-Mobile, SpaceX has already launched direct-to-cellular satellites, successfully testing the system to provide wireless emergency alerts across various environments.
In his latest post, Musk confirmed that the commercial service would be extended worldwide: “After thinking it through, SpaceX Starlink will provide emergency services access for mobile phones for people in distress for free.”
