Background of Hamster Kombat's Internal Conflict
On August 16, Lenta.ru revealed Hamster Kombat team disagreements over investor AD.RU, sparking the uproar.
The report, which was eventually withdrawn, claimed that the game's designers refused to share revenues with AD.RU despite its funding and mechanic development.
Anton Gorshkov, CEO of AD.RU, says his company was important to game development.
Gorshkov said AD.RU spent $600,000 in Eduard Gurinovich's 2020 Arenum mobile gaming and esports platform partnership. One of Hamster Kombat's creators is Russian IT entrepreneur Gurinovich.
AD.RU's 18.6% stake was boosted to 25% after marketing helped obtain over $1 million in new investors.
In June 2024, Gurinovich denied AD.RU's involvement in Hamster Kombat's development.
Gorshkov issued Gurinovich a pre-trial claim, suggesting Hamster Kombat may face legal issues.
In August, marketing director Nikita Anufriev quit Hamster Kombat, worsening its situation.
Anufriev said he was promised 25% of the company's income or shares but never received either.
He claims to have promoted the game internationally and secured significant partnerships, including a $450,000 investment.
Anufriev said the team returned monies to early investors instead of sharing earnings, which has upset influencers and players who believe their contributions to the game were devalued.
Conflict Effects on Airdrop Farmers and HMSTR Token Launch
These internal issues might affect Hamster Kombat gamers and the project's future.
HMSTR's late July airdrop of 60% of its token to devoted players was postponed indefinitely. The company blamed TON blockchain technical issues and network congestion for the delay.
