Former President Donald Trump once again offered his support to cryptocurrencies, stating that the US government should not sell Bitcoin BTC/USD. In an interview with prominent YouTuber Adin Ross on Monday, the Republican presidential candidate described cryptocurrencies as “modern currencies” and said that “smart” people are investing in them.

Asked about the administration's move to sell state-owned bitcoin, Trump said: “It's something they shouldn't do because they should be trying to build it. “So if we don’t do it, China will do it, and other things.”

Trump likened digital currencies to artificial intelligence and highlighted the importance of falling behind.

It should be noted that trading and mining of cryptocurrencies has been banned in China since 2021. However, some reports have revealed a growing trend of Chinese investors using alternative methods to invest in the market.

Trump's latest statement echoed his widely talked about speech at the recent Bitcoin 2024 conference. “For too long, our government has violated the cornerstone that every Bitcoin user knows by heart: Never sell your Bitcoin,” Trump said during his keynote address.

Interestingly, the US Department of Justice transferred $2 billion in bitcoins from its cold wallet last week. #BTC
