Hamilton Lane partnered with Securitize, a renowned digital asset platform, to tokenize its funds, enhancing accessibility and transparency for a new generation of investors. Victor Jung, Head of Digital Assets, emphasized the firm’s commitment to leveraging technology for greater financial inclusion.

Expanding Private Market Investments

By utilizing blockchain technology, Hamilton Lane aims to provide individual investors with access to private markets, traditionally dominated by institutional players. This approach aligns with the firm’s strategy to expand the reach of private market investments and offer superior returns compared to public markets.

The new fund, launched under the Investment Company Act of 1940, digitizes share ownership records using Securitize’s platform. This initiative represents a significant step towards modernizing and streamlining investment processes.

The fund’s blockchain-native structure reduces inefficiencies, enhances liquidity, and offers a seamless investment experience. Investors can benefit from fractional ownership, lower investment minimums, and simplified administrative processes, including capital calls and distributions.

Hamilton Lane’s Future Plans

Hamilton Lane’s innovative use of the Provenance Blockchain for transfer agent services and fund subscription processes highlights the potential of blockchain technology in the financial sector. The firm plans to launch additional blockchain-native private market funds, further broadening access to a diversified portfolio of private equity and credit assets.

These funds will be available to accredited individual investors, wealth advisors, and institutional investors. This will provide a single investment entry point into the private markets.
