According to U.Today, a widespread internet outage has disrupted numerous real-world services, leading to a surge in meme coins themed after the internet services firm CrowdStrike and Microsoft's 'Blue Screen of Death' (BSoD) error. These meme coins are now prevalent on the Ethereum and Solana blockchains.

The outage has affected millions of Windows users globally, causing the BSoD error, which forces a sudden restart or shutdown of computer systems running on Windows. This software glitch has significantly impacted schedules and businesses, including stock exchanges, railways, and airlines. Olivia Solon, a tech journalist at Bloomberg, reported that London's Heathrow Airport advised passengers to check Google for their gate numbers due to the pervasive blue screens in the terminal.

Despite the extensive outage, no crypto-related businesses or companies have reported any disruptions or errors in their services. However, the crypto community has quickly capitalized on the situation by issuing tokens referencing STRIKE, CrowdStrike, BSoD, Microsoft, and bluescreenofdeath. These tokens are actively trading, with some reaching liquidity of $50,000 in stablecoins and market capitalizations of up to $1 million.

The buzz around Microsoft and CrowdStrike has led to a flurry of meme coin creation, particularly on the Solana-based token generator, Pump Fun. Users have created hundreds of memes referencing the two companies. While the hype surrounding these meme coins may diminish in a few days, early creators and buyers have historically profited significantly before the trend loses its momentum.
