What is an Altseason and How to Spot Them?
You might have come across the term "altseason" before but not fully grasped its significance. Understanding altseason is crucial in the crypto world.
An altseason, short for "altcoin season," is a period when altcoins surge and significantly outperform Bitcoin. During an altseason, it's wise to hold altcoins in your portfolio, especially those that haven't yet seen massive gains, as they possess higher growth potential compared to already popular coins like $SHIB or $SOL.
Altseasons typically occur when Bitcoin's price is stable and its volatility is low. During these times, investors shift their focus to altcoins, driven by the impatience and desire for movement in the market. Consequently, a substantial influx of capital into altcoins drives their market capitalization up, boosting the value of almost all altcoins.
To identify an altseason, monitor Bitcoin Dominance (BTC.D) on TradingView. This chart illustrates Bitcoin's share of the total crypto market capitalization. A declining BTC.D indicates a favorable period for altcoins. Altseasons generally last around three weeks and happen multiple times during a bull market. To capitalize on this, position yourself in promising altcoins before these periods by predicting shifts using Bitcoin Dominance.
