According to Odaily: In the week leading to May 4 this year, the United States saw a surge in the number of people filing for unemployment benefits. Reaching an unprecedented 231,000, this figure exceeded expectations pegged at 215,000 and outshone the previous value of 208,000. This is marked as a new high since the week of August 26, 2023.
Simultaneously, a steady stream of citizens continues to apply for unemployment benefits. In the week ending on April 27, the United States recorded a count of 1.785 million continuing applications, meeting expectations and nearly matching the prior value of 1.774 million.
