Atomic Wallet Hacked, Estimated Damage $35 Million
At least $35 million worth of crypto assets have been stolen from Atomic Wallet users since June 2, according to an analysis by on-chain investigator ZachXBT. Of these, five individuals lost a combined $17 million.
Atomic Wallet says the cause of the attack is under investigation. Users have reported lost tokens, deleted transaction histories, and even entire crypto portfolios being stolen.
The attack is a reminder of the importance of using strong security practices when storing crypto assets. Users should always use a hardware wallet or other cold storage solution to protect their funds. They should also be careful about clicking on links in emails or on social media, and they should never enter their private keys into any website or app.
