According to Odaily, Roam has announced the development of a Telecom Data Layer, leveraging its existing decentralized WiFi roaming network and DID+VCs identity verification mechanism. This initiative aims to integrate blockchain technology with real-world hardware, creating a multifunctional, secure, and scalable foundational platform. Roam's network currently spans nearly 190 countries and regions, with over 1 million registered users on the Roam app, more than 600,000 proprietary nodes, and over 3.5 million OpenRoaming™ nodes. It is the only Web3 IDP recognized by the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA). The data layer typically supports data collaboration and interaction on blockchain public chains, and Roam's location-based physical hardware network makes the creation of the Telecom Data Layer feasible.

The Roam Telecom Data Layer comprises four ecosystem modules: Roam Network, Roam Growth, Roam Discovery, and Roam Community. These modules focus on incentivizing network construction, ensuring continuous income for network participants, supporting and incubating connectable or embeddable projects, and community governance. Together, they aim to build a cohesive and interactive Blockchain of Things (BoT) ecosystem. Additionally, Roam has introduced a new product, Roam eSIM, which allows users to participate in WiFi network construction via the app and receive global roaming data for free.
