According to Foresight News, CoinGecko reported unusual activity on the third-party email marketing platform, GetResponse, on June 5. The attackers infiltrated the accounts of GetResponse employees, leading to a data breach. The attackers exported 1,916,596 contacts from CoinGecko's GetResponse account and sent phishing emails to 23,723 emails from another GetResponse customer's account.
CoinGecko stated that user accounts remain secure, and no passwords have been leaked. They are currently reviewing security procedures and will seek to collaborate with suppliers to enhance security protocols.
