According to Odaily, Arweave, a blockchain focused on data storage, is planning to acquire Odysee, a competitor to YouTube based on cryptocurrency. This acquisition could potentially bring about 7 million users to the Arweave blockchain. Unlike Ethereum, which can store links to metadata or large files such as videos, Arweave can fully host these data on-chain.

Sam Williams, the founder of Arweave and CEO of Forward Research, stated that their goal is to overthrow the existing monopoly in social media. He emphasized that their efforts would not be considered successful unless they replace Twitter. This acquisition is a significant step towards achieving this goal, as it could potentially expand Arweave's user base and influence in the digital space.
