Modern technology allows us to expand our physical spaces using augmented reality (AR). With the Auki network and portal kits, anyone can bring their ideas and knowledge into a digital realm that blends seamlessly with the real world. In this article, we'll walk you through the steps of setting up your own domain and integrating AR into your physical space.
Step 1: What is a domain?
Your domain in the Auki network is a 3D map of your physical space—a form of virtual real estate where you can anchor digital information. It allows you to bring your ideas to life and share them with others in a tangible way. Setting it up is quick and simple, so you can get started in minutes.
Step 2: Setting up your Auki Posemesh account
To begin, create an account on the Auki Posemesh console. This account will store all of your domain data and allow you to manage its information.
Go to the Auki Posemesh console.
Register a new account.
Step 3: Creating your domain
Once you've registered, follow these steps to create your domain:
Log into the Auki Posemesh console.
Navigate to the "Domains" section and click "Create Domain."
Name your domain.
Set up a redirect URL (optional). This will direct users to a URL of your choice when they scan a QR code using a non-posemesh-enabled app.
Important: Domain data is hosted on a server. If you prefer to set up your own server to ensure data privacy, Auki provides server setup instructions on GitHub.
Step 4: Getting and placing your portals
Portals are physical QR codes that are used for calibration and navigation in your space. You can order an official portal kit or create your own.
Order a portal kit for a more durable and permanent installation.
Alternatively, print your own: in the portal section of your domain, click "Generate Portals" and "Get all QR codes" to print them at the desired size.
Place the portals evenly around your space, a few meters apart. At least one portal should be placed on the floor to define the origin coordinates of your domain (0, 0, 0).
Step 5: Download the Domain Management Tool (DMT) app
Next, download the DMT app, which allows you to provide spatial information for your domain, such as the locations of your portals.
The app is available for Android 13+ and iOS 16+, and it works best with high-end devices that use simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) technology to ensure accurate positioning of your portals.
Step 6: Calibrating your portals
The final step is calibrating your domain:
Log into the DMT app with the same credentials used for the Auki Posemesh console.
Select the domain you created and click "Enter domain," then "Continue."
Scan your first portal (the one on the floor), which will set the origin coordinates (0, 0, 0).
Slowly walk around and scan the remaining portals. Once a portal is captured, it will turn green, and you can move on to the next one.
After capturing all portals, click "Finish domain setup." You should now see digital representations of the portals in their respective locations.
If you missed any, click "Add new portal," scan an already captured one to recalibrate, and continue capturing the new portals.
The Benefits of Using Auki Network
The Auki system offers a unique way to blend the physical and digital worlds, allowing you to enhance your space with interactive digital objects. This opens up new possibilities for education, entertainment, and business projects.
By setting up your own domain, you gain full control over the digital content in your space, making it accessible to anyone who visits your location through augmented reality. Unlock the potential of your physical space and share your ideas with the world using Auki's powerful tools.
