Errol Musk recently shared his thoughts on his son Elon Musk's new role in the Trump administration, where Elon, alongside Vivek Ramaswamy, has been appointed to lead the newly created "Department of Government Efficiency" (DOGE). This presidential advisory commission aims to reduce waste, cut bureaucracy, and improve efficiency in federal agencies. While Errol expressed excitement about Elon's new government position, he also voiced concerns about the potential impact on Elon's existing business commitments, including Tesla, SpaceX, and X.

Errol acknowledged that Elon already has a lot to manage, with hundreds of thousands of employees and major responsibilities. He emphasized that Elon can't afford to neglect his business ventures and suggested that his government role should be more advisory in nature rather than requiring him to be tied down in Washington. "He has to be called upon on a sort of consultancy basis," Errol remarked, expressing concern that Elon's business duties might suffer if he dedicates too much time to government work.

Despite these concerns, Errol praised Elon's ability to improve efficiency, citing his success in turning around struggling companies, such as cutting X’s workforce drastically while maintaining the platform's effectiveness. He believes Elon's management style, rooted in frugality and a drive to get things done more efficiently, makes him well-suited for this government role. Errol noted that Elon could apply this mindset to eliminate wasteful spending and improve productivity in government agencies.
