Donald Trump, the Republican president-elect, promised during his campaign to ease up crypto enforcement. As a result, the focus of the government agencies and departments is expected to shift to areas like immigration law enforcement. This will also mean fewer resources will be dedicated to crypto crimes and fewer prosecutors will be working on crypto cases.
Scott Hartman, co-chief of the securities and commodities task force at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan, said that the office currently has 16 prosecutors and hopes they don’t trim it more.
