Binance Rejects Majority of Israel's Request to Freeze Wallets

Binance has declined 86% of the Israel Defense Forces' (IDF) requests to freeze cryptocurrency wallets associated with Palestinians and others. Nils Anderson Röed, Binance's global head of financial research, stated, "We do not rely on a single source or tool," highlighting the company’s thorough approach to such matters.

In late August, Binance CEO Richard Teng strongly refuted claims that all Palestinian users’ wallets were frozen at the request of the IDF. While the IDF initially asked to freeze over 1,500 wallets linked to Palestinians, Binance's internal investigation found only about 220 of those wallets (14%) involved illegal transactions and were compliant with international law. As a result, only these wallets were frozen based on legally verifiable evidence.

During the Messari Mainnet Conference in New York, Röed further explained that Binance conducts its own independent investigation, using open-source information, to verify the validity of requests like those from the IDF, ensuring all actions are backed by legal findings.
