This has come with intention to protect the citizens personal information and funds against the scammers, where they have issued a warning about scammers posing themselves for crypto exchanges
FBI Warns Scammers Posing as Crypto Exchange Employees
The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has offered a warning toward scammers posing to be directly involved with crypto exchanges to illegally transfer users’ funds. In a short notice, the FBI has urged the victims of the scam to report such activities through their official sites by providing any information related to the scam.
In their X space, the post disclosed that, scammers are targeting their prey through calls or messages and presenting themselves as employees of a crypto exchange. Claiming there are technical problems with the accounts and later on intruding on them without the users approval.

In the address, the agencyI noted that malicious actors first try to make their potential victims nervous by conveying that the users must urgently act to protect their accounts. During the fake maintenance, scammers would try to get users to provide access codes through malware links or direct identification information accessing the user’s account, hence stealing their digital assets.
Reporting Scams: Steps to Take if You're a Victim
The agencyI has clearly highlighted that if crypto users receive a call or message indicating problems with the account, the first action must be to “not respond.” The government agency asked users to do this even if the call or message appears official. The FBI has advised people who might be victims of such scams to hang up the call and contact the cryptocurrency exchange’s official phone number to verify if there is a problem.
Moreover, they have asked users to refrain from going to any websites or clicking links that the caller sends with the agency saying, it would be better to navigate to the official exchange separately other than using the sent links. The FBI has advised that If the caller asks for the login details, the users should abstain from providing the information and avoid downloading files and attachments on the message.
