Odaily reports that a recent study has offered a summary of how the 21 million Bitcoin (BTC) are distributed. This study shows that the majority of BTC are owned by individuals, making up 57% of the total. A portion of BTC, 17.6%, have been lost, and another 6.6% are yet to be mined. The wallet associated with Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous person behind Bitcoin, owns 5.2% of the total BTC. Bitcoin Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) represent 3.9% of the total, while businesses own 3.6%. Miners control 3.4% of the BTC, and governments own 2.7%.
