According to Odaily, the Fantom Foundation has announced the approval of its third Sonic governance proposal on platform X. The proposal includes various aspects such as ecosystem grants, a new token burn mechanism, and innovative plans like Sonic Spark and Sonic University. It is reported that over the next six years, the Sonic Foundation will allocate a portion of tokens as operational funds for Sonic Labs. These funds will be used to manage the growth of the network between dApp, BD partners, and the ever-growing existing and new user communities.

Furthermore, if the community decides to keep the inflation rate at 1.5% per year for the next six years, 47,625,000 tokens will be minted annually (3,175,000,000 x 1.5%). If Sonic Labs only uses 5,000,000 tokens in a given year, the Sonic Foundation will burn the remaining tokens (42,625,000). This new token burn mechanism is part of the approved governance proposal and is expected to help maintain the value of the Sonic tokens.
