A local police unit that aims to work against would-be snipers was located in the same building that Thomas Crooks climbed unimpeded. Law enforcement sources told reporters.

The AGR International plant in Butler was used by local police as a stronghold. From there, police were scanning the area for possible snipers.

According to insiders, none of the officers were outside at the time of the shooting, everyone was sitting inside the building.

Sources also confirm earlier information: one of the officers sat on his partner's shoulders to look over the roof. As soon as Crooks pointed his rifle at him, the cop "dove" down.
