The big winner for Dookey Dash’s skill-based mint and Fortnite esports player Mongraal has sold his winning Dookey Dash key for 1,000 ETH($1.63 million) to billionaire entrepreneur Adam Weitsman.
The 18-year-old announces his sale on Twitter, providing his reasons for the sale and thanking Yuga Labs for hosting the competition. This sale comes after he has received numerous bidding for the key, including a bid for 690 WETH($1.1 million) or Wrapped Ethereum from UpDAO.
UpDAO is a decentralized community that governs the Inhabitants Universe, a developing NFT game by Pixel Vault. Despite this attractive offer, Mongraal has sold it to Weitsman, a billionaire known for his scrap metal business. Currently, the winning Key in the hands of Weitsman received a 999 ETH bid by the iconic Meme site, 9GAG. Perhaps we might see a series of bids for the winning key as time goes on.
Dookey Dash Mint
Yuga Labs is the company behind NFT collections such as Bored Ape Yacht Club and Crypto Punks. A month ago, they released Dookey Dash alongside a skill-based mint that awarded the top winner with an exclusive Sewer Pass.
What the Sewer pass rewards will grant holders has not yet been disclosed. However, it's safe to assume that it will likely unlock in-game assets worth considerable value. Given the nature of BAYC, it will likely grant exclusive assets that no other member can access.
Dookey Dash also had its fair share of controversies. During its playable phase, the game saw rampant cheating and an abundance of paid boosters seeking to profit from its skill-based mint. Mongraal himself also advertised that he’s open to boosting services for the right price(which happens to be around 2.6 ETH).
Furthermore, according to Decrypt, boosters typically charge around $800 to $3,200 for a single boost. Look like some web3 gamers are looking for a shortcut on the way to the top of the leaderboards.
Final Thoughts
The Dookey Dash mint offered players a fun yet challenging way to accumulate rewards. Despite its controversy, the overall event has been well-received by the NFT gaming community.
Mongraal’s recent profit off selling the winning NFT to Adam Weitsman also gave hope to other esports gamers a way to profit off their in-game skill and competitive prowess. It might be early to think of anything more but it’s exciting to see what the future may hold.
