FORESIGHTNEWS: Ethereum core developer Tim Beiko summarized the latest Ethereum core developers' execution meeting in Discord. During the meeting, developers agreed to continue using regular contracts with system-written transactions instead of precompiles. Before Monday's test call, developers will attempt to: (1) agree on a deployment plan (as part of a fork or manual deployment before the fork); (2) agree on the first contract implementation to be used; (3) submit a PR reflecting this situation to the 4788 specification. Once developers reach consensus on the contract, the audit/formal verification process will begin.
The meeting decided to postpone the release of Devnet #8 until the new 4788 specification is implemented. Regarding EIP-6780, they will continue to merge 'Add description for EIP-6780'. As for the Engine API, it was agreed to add blobGasUsed and blobGasPrice to the 4844 transaction receipts. Developers will also modify the PR, mentioning that the Dencun upgrade must use forkChoiceUpdateV3, and then merge it into 'Clarify early API handling of Cancun payloads; reorder checks #426'. Concerning the large validator testnet, the EF development team has launched a development network with 2.1 million validators, with a client distribution similar to the mainnet, and will collaborate with client teams to check and fix finalization and block Gossip issues before Holesky's launch. Holesky plans to have about 1.5 million validators.
Additionally, developers introduced and discussed two account abstraction EIP proposals, namely EIP 5806 and 7377. Guillaume Ballet and Josh Rudolf presented the latest updates on Verkle.
