According to informed sources, advisors to U.S. President-elect Trump are considering how to reshape the leadership of the Federal Reserve, including appointing Fed Governor Bowman as the next Vice Chair for Supervision. Previously, Michael Barr announced on Monday that he would resign from the position of Vice Chair for Supervision while retaining his seat on the Federal Reserve Board. Meanwhile, advisors have also begun drafting a list of potential successors to Chair Jerome Powell, whose term will end in May 2026. Although Trump chose Powell to be chair during his first term, he has repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction with that decision. According to informed sources, Trump's advisors are currently considering candidates to succeed Powell, including Kevin Hassett, who is set to become the head of the White House National Economic Council, former Bush administration officials Larry Lindsey and Mark Sumerlin, former World Bank President David Malpass, former Federal Reserve official Kevin Warsh, and Bowman.
