Gemini Trust Co. recently reached a settlement agreement with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to pay $5 million to resolve a lawsuit. The lawsuit accused Gemini of misleading regulators while attempting to launch the first U.S.-regulated Bitcoin futures contract. However, Gemini neither admitted nor denied liability in the settlement.

This settlement avoids a trial that was scheduled for January 21, and Judge Alvin Hellerstein has approved the agreement. Last year, the CFTC filed a lawsuit against Gemini in Manhattan federal court, accusing it of providing false information to prevent Bitcoin price manipulation.

Additionally, Gemini still faces a lawsuit from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regarding its partnership with Genesis Global Capital.
