Before the presidential inauguration, Trump, who has already raised $200 million, will be judged in this lawsuit.
On the 3rd, Judge Juan Merchan of the New York State Supreme Court announced that a ruling would be made on January 10 regarding the "hush money" case involving elected President Trump. On the 3rd and 4th, Trump responded to this through a series of posts on social media. On the evening of the 3rd, Trump stated that he is the only political figure in American history who cannot defend himself. The next morning, he first posted accusing Merchan of being "corrupt and dishonest" and called for the revocation of his professional qualifications. He then complained in another post, saying, "No president has ever been treated illegally like I have." He also accused Democratic judges and prosecutors of being "corrupt" and claimed they treat President (Biden)'s political opponent in an "unprecedentedly" unfair manner.
According to reports, Trump may appear in court in person or possibly via video link. This means that before attending the presidential inauguration on January 20, Trump will first face trial. Prior to this, no U.S. president has been accused or even convicted.
Trump appeared in court in New York last May.
Trump is almost certain to become the first president in U.S. history to be convicted. However, Merchan has already stated, "Considering the realities of presidential immunity, unconditional release would be the most feasible option." Reports indicate that although Trump may ultimately not go to prison, judges have the opportunity to condemn Trump's actions in court on the 10th.
Trump is expected to appeal, which may delay the ruling against him. But if he is unable to overturn the original ruling after the appeal, he will enter the White House burdened with criminal charges.
