• Livepeer announced the launch of the decentralized video processing network Livepeer AI subnet with AI computing capabilities. This subnet will be built on Livepeer's decentralized video processing network architecture, providing globally accessible open video infrastructure and incentivizing scalability through a blockchain-based token economy. The Livepeer AI subnet also allows Livepeer Orchestrator node operators to earn ETH and LPT income by deploying GPU resources for AI processing tasks. The Livepeer AI subnet is being launched in three phases, with the first phase completed and currently being optimized, and Livepeer expects to launch the mainnet in Q3 2024.
• Messari stated that driven by live streaming platforms, the usage of the Livepeer network increased by 31% month-over-month, reaching an all-time high in Q1 2024. In addition to transcoding, Livepeer also plans to introduce AI video computing capabilities into its network.
